The Regent Quarter, including the Laundry buildings, emerged during the 19th century as part of the Victorian industrial expansion in London. The area became a center for various industrial activities, including laundry services due to its proximity to major railway stations. With the increasing population and the rise of the middle class, demand for laundry services grew substantially. The Laundry buildings in Kings Cross served as facilities for commercial laundries that catered to both domestic and commercial clients.
