The Surrey based research and development hub will help stage the next generation of advanced commercial medicines. The site has been associated with research fields since 1968 when the Lilly Research Centre was established. There still stands the original Victorian manor house, Erlwood House which was home to an impressive sunken garden celebrating biodiversity, the manor is being retained amongst the refurbishment and new builds.
The campus has been redesigned by Heatherwick studio on behalf of UCB. The architecture acknowledges natural structures whilst utilising materials that can be manipulated into form and provide high performance over time, in this case CLT structure and façade. ISG are delivering the landmark scheme with BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd).
