Hanover Square was laid in 1741 and was the first of the three Mayfair Squares to be built.

Almost three centuries on, 25 Hanover redevelops the site to help returning historical context to the square.

The façade comprises of traditional materials, Portland stone with steel window frames which are used in a contemporary yet former styling which pays homage to the Georgian era.

The technical challenges were demonstrating control of dissimilar material behaviours. Active steel surface patinas required clinical run-off and hidden filtration design which preserved the porous white natural stone and observed façade boundary thresholds.

Façade Typologies
Weathering steel cladding – Steel windows – High performance glazing – Natural stone: Limestone, Moorcroft – Steel and glass balustrades. Magnetic Levitation steel and glass doors.

Zero gravity sliding doors are installed to the roof areas to offer effortless operation. The roof terrace is shaded by weathering steel features which continue the dialogue with the steel reveals from the base of the building to the roof.

The glass specification is one of the highest available on the market to ensure the control of energy loss and gains. The glass also has additional anti-reflective coatings to control clarity through reducing internal reflectivity ensuring views of the square are enjoyed regardless of time of day.
