1 James Street and the surrounding tributary streets contain some of Londonā€™s rich historic stories of being redefined by WW2 bombing, pioneering department stores of Oxford Street and even helping to contribute to ventilation requirements in buildings.

1 James Street is famously the home of the C&A Building which fronted Oxford Street and running along James Street.

The building is a function of bomb damage to the site and the introduction of concrete Modern Methods of Construction as a rebuild solution.

Fortis were appointed to resolve historic fixing detailing which upon forensic investigations revealed a unique undocumented restraint design. This required analysis and integration of modern design to demonstrate a retention design which permitted the reuse of existing fabricĀ so as toĀ reduce and avoid unnecessary disruption to embodied carbon.
